People are at the heart of what we do

People are at the heart of what we do

true2you grew from a belief that people deserve more than services that simply meet their basic needs. They deserve to be known, valued and supported to live lives that have meaning to them. That belief continues to shape our work with people, organisations and communities.

Our vision

Our vision

Honouring older individuals for who they truly are by promoting dignity and wellbeing for all.

Our vision reflects where true2you began — and what continues to sit at the heart of our work. While our work has grown beyond traditional aged care into culture, community and organisational development, older people and the experience of later life remain central to our knowledge, experience and perspective.

Grounded in experience

Grounded in experience

true2you brings extensive experience in aged care, person-directed practice, education, facilitation and organisational development. Our work has taken us into many different settings and conversations — alongside older people, families, practitioners, leaders and organisations.

This experience has taught us that meaningful change rarely comes from simply introducing something new. It comes from understanding people and context, building relationships, asking better questions and creating the conditions for people to think and work differently.

From supporting individuals to developing systems

From supporting individuals to developing systems

Our work has evolved over time. What began with a focus on supporting people directly has grown into work with the people, teams, leaders and systems that influence their everyday experience.

Today, we work at different levels — from individual wellbeing and everyday practice to leadership, organisational culture and community development. The person remains at the centre.

A South African perspective

A South African perspective

true2you is based in South Africa and our work is informed by the people, communities and realities around us. The name true2you reflects something fundamental to our approach: being true to the person — their identity, story, strengths, choices and way of being in the world.

Our work is also informed by African perspectives on humanity, relationship and community, including the thinking that resonates with Ubuntu. We bring this perspective together with professional experience, research, international learning and practical experience in the aged-care sector.

Why we use the word 'community'

When we speak about community, we are referring to residential aged care and retirement living communities. We use this language intentionally because we believe people thrive when they are known, valued and connected within the places where they live and the relationships that surround them. We also believe words have power, and community better reflects the culture, relationships and shared everyday life that shape wellbeing and belonging.

Experienced, but still curious

Experienced, but still curious

We bring experience to the table, but we do not assume that experience means having all the answers. We remain curious about what is changing, what people are learning and what might be possible. That combination — experience and curiosity — is central to how we work.

Who is true2you?

true2you is led by Magda Pienaar, an experienced consultant, educator and facilitator with a background in occupational therapy and a long-standing focus on aged care and person-directed support.

Her work has included supporting leaders and teams, developing learning programmes, facilitating conversations, and partnering with organisations seeking to strengthen culture and everyday practice. true2you has grown from this practical experience into a broader body of work focused on dignity, wellbeing, culture and community.

Looking beyond what is

Looking beyond what is

We are interested in what happens when we stop asking only: “How do we provide a better service?” and begin asking: “What kind of experience do we want people to have?” That question continues to shape the work of true2you.
