Creating the culture you want to live in

Creating the culture you want to live in

Whether you are establishing a new community or developing an existing one, culture matters from the beginning. A community is more than the buildings, services and structures around it. It is created by the people who live, work and contribute within it. true2you works alongside organisations and communities to intentionally develop the culture they want to create — recognising residents, staff, leaders and other community members as active role players and contributors.

Our work is guided by the HonourMe Framework, which keeps the person at the centre — from leadership and governance through to the routines of everyday life.

The Community Wellbeing Partnership is how we bring the HonourMe Framework to life in your community.

Lasting culture change needs more than a workshop — it needs ongoing conversation, reflection and practice.

Developing a new community
Shaping culture during development, before routines and systems are set.

Strengthening an established community
Building on what's already working, starting with relationships rather than an audit.

Starting with a team
A focused journey with one team, such as nursing and senior staff, that can grow over time.

From vision to everyday life

From vision to everyday life

A vision for a community is a starting point. The challenge is bringing that vision into the everyday experience of the people who live, work and contribute there. A community cannot simply be designed for its residents. Its character develops through their participation, relationships, choices, contributions and shared experiences. Our work helps connect the two — supporting people to develop shared understanding, strengthen practice and create ways of working together that reflect the community’s purpose and aspirations.

What we work towards

  • A person-directed culture that has taken root — not just been declared

  • Leaders equipped to hold that vision day to day

  • Everyday practice that reflects the community's values, not just its policies

  • A shared language that runs through the whole community — not confined to senior staff

  • A rhythm of reflection built into how the community works

  • A shared sense of what the community stands for and where it's heading

  • Clarity on progress, and confidence in what to focus on next

What teams tell us

In reflective conversations with a nursing and senior care team, participants described changes like these:

Nurses spoke of supporting residents not only from their professional role, but as a person.

For some, looking after their own wellbeing had never felt important. Now it's something they notice and make time for.

true2you supports the development of emerging models of community living, bringing an understanding of both the everyday realities of support and the wider conditions that shape how people experience a community.

Developing something meaningful?

If you are creating a new community, strengthening an existing one, or exploring a different approach, let’s talk about what you are trying to achieve.

It starts with a conversation about where your community is and where you'd like it to go.
